Pacific Northwest Section
Dr. Ralph Dawes
Membership Committee VP, and Past President of PNW NAGT
Ralph grew up near Puget Sound, got his BS in Geology at Western Washington University in Bellingham and his PhD at the University of Washington in Seattle. Somewhere along the line, he slipped in a BA in literature from Antioch College. He now lives in Wenatchee, Washington (with his wife, Cheryl Dawes, who has a BS in geology, a master's in science writing, and a hand of much of the work Ralph produces).
Ralph teaches earth sciences at Wenatchee Valley College, in person and online. He believes in making the best of all possible worlds: immersive and stimulating field excursions to investigate actual geology, creating mind-changing online learning experiences, and doing everything he can to produce a society that knows the basics of earth science, a workforce that expertly helps society thrive on earth in a sustainable way, and geoscientists who will make the 21st century the earth science century.
